How to jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone 4 using sn0wbreeze. This method can also jailbreak iPhone 3GS,iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G & 3G running iOS 5.

However, iPad 2 iOS 5 is not supported using this method, so it’s better if you don’t try it on your beloved iPad 2.

How to jailbreak iOS 5 using Sn0wbreeze

1. Download sn0wbreeze for iOS 5 : sn0wbreeze v2.8b8 (For iOS 5.0)

2. Extract it to local folder. Right click sn0wbreeze and click : run as administrator.

3. Browse for downloaded IPSW for your iPhone.

4. Sn0wbreeze will verify the IPSW, after then click continue button.

5. Select a mode : Simple or Expert Mode. If you are not familiar with advanced settings then just click use Simple Mode.

6. Please wait for a while, Sn0wbreeze is preparing your custom IPSW which contain Cydia.

7. The IPSW is located on the desktop along with a new folder “iBooty”.

8. Turn your iPhone into DFU mode in order to restore using custom IPSW.

8. Now open iTunes, connect your iPhone and press Shift + Restore and select the IPSW at the desktop. Select IPSW generated by Sn0wbreeze located on the desktop as in step 7.

9. Wait for a while and once it finishes you are now using iOS 5 with Cydia, means it is jailbroken.

10. If Cydia close automatically when you’re trying to launch it, please reboot your iPhone and then it will stuck at Apple logo.

11. This is the problem with tethered jailbreak solution, each time you reboot or the device is turn off you need to connect to PC and use tool to boot your iPhone.

12. To fix the problem, run iBooty tool from the desktop and you should be able to boot into your normal jailbroken state.

13. Remember, since you are using tethered jailbreak please avoid turning off your iDevice regularly unless necesasry.

14. To restore back to normal iOS 5 firmware, just restore to untouched ipsw by Apple using iTunes 10.5.

15. That’s all, probably a bit TL;DR but actually the steps are really easy.

Method 1 : Customize Icon using Icon Pack Installer

Mr-Ragnarok, a deviantart user has created many icon pack installer based on popular icon packs available on deviantart.

To install Mr Ragnarok icon pack, just download any icon pack installer and run the install .bat file, then restart your computer. Make sure to create restore point before installing icon pack.

Method 2 : Customize Icon using Icon Pack in .ico format

If you downloaded icon pack in .ico format, here is a simple guide to change the default windows icon with the custom icon.

To get icon pack in .ico format, search icon pack on deviantart : Deviantart Icons Pack

Extract it to local folder. Then you will need to use third party program to customize default icons in Windows, in this guide i prefer to use TuneUp Utilities.

Open TuneUp Styler, then go to System Elements, click on Tasks > Replace icon > and browse for icon in your computer.

After that just apply and you may need to log off or restart computer for icon to change to custom icon.

The custom icon I’m currently using is Serviana set, download it from deviantart.
